Our Story

Located in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia, our bricks and mortar are over 150 years old (but don’t worry, most of us are much younger than that!). People come from many parts of the City and Adelaide Hills to be part of a multi-generational, multi-ethnic church that is bringing fresh energy to its rich spiritual heritage in the Anglican tradition

but the heartbeat of our church is Jesus Christ.

It’s pretty simple, really. The community of St Bart’s longs to see more lives gripped by the love of God in Jesus Christ, because we believe that there is nothing better in this life or beyond. That said, there are people at our church who are not yet convinced by the claims of Christianity, or who are just checking things out. And that’s fine by us. We work hard to make St Bart’s Norwood a welcoming and supportive place for anyone who comes along, no matter where they might be in their journey with God. We don’t claim to be the perfect church, just a community of people who have discovered the astonishing bounty of God’s grace in Jesus Christ, and are committed to growing together in that grace.

Christianity Explored

Christianity Explored is a relaxed and informal way of exploring the Christian Faith. Sessions provide information together with space and time to think and ask about the big questions of life.
Over seven sessions in Mark’s Gospel, guests find out more about the life of the person at the heart of the Christian faith – Jesus Christ.
The structure of each session is simple: a short Bible study, a film/talk and a discussion based on the talk. Contact us for details of our next Christianity Explored Course. Upcoming course will be held via Zoom. We’d love to see you!
Home Groups

For many people Home Groups are where the rubber hits the road (in a good way!). These small groups (10-12 people maximum) meet during the week and are great places to make friends and grow relationships. Every Home Group is unique, but all have at least three things in common: hospitality, exploring the bible together, and prayer. Oh, and no previous experience required!
Bart's Youth

If you’re at high school (grades 7-12) and are looking for a caring community, don’t mind a bit of craziness, and would like to learn more about Jesus, then we think you’ll fit right in at Bart’s Youth. We meet on Friday evenings during term time, 6:45pm-9pm. All welcome!

Play Group

Let’s be honest, play groups are for parents as much as they are for kids. Our play group happens on site every Friday morning at 10am (excluding school holidays). It is run by a friendly and very committed group of church volunteers and is open to anyone in the community to attend. Just bring your child/children along and let us take care of the cleaning up for once!
Community Meals

Our regular Community Meals are all about genuine hospitality and an open table. We love our local community and want to do our part to build and bless it. These events are relaxed and family friendly, combining tasty food, live music, and other fun activities. Our next Community Meal is happening on Saturday 18th February. More details on our Facebook page!
Mercy Ministries

Jesus calls us to love our neighbours, and especially those who are in need or doing it tough. It is in view of God’s extravagant mercy towards us that St Bart’s as a church seeks opportunities to meet and bless people who for various reasons are on the margins of society. One way we do this is by partnering with Mary Mag’s Dinners, an inner-city meals ministry.
Social Activities

Some things we do purely for the fun of it! Hitting up the local coffee shops and restaurants, social tennis, day trips, and sunset hikes are just some of things we get up to. At St Bart’s sharing faith and life go together.
Monday Prayer

A healthy church is a praying church. We try to weave prayer throughout all that we do, but one or our staples is Monday Prayer. Every Monday night at 7:30pm (except public holidays) a group of people meet in the church or on Zoom to pray. New people are always welcome! Prayer requests can also be emailed to: prayer@stbarts.asn.au
Gospel Partnerships

St Bart’s wants all people everywhere to have the opportunity to hear and respond to the good news about Jesus. That’s why we support and partner with other gospel-centred ministries locally, nationally and internationally, including the Church Missionary Society (CMS), Evangelical Students (ES), Bush Church Aid (BCA), Engage Work Faith, and Bible College SA.

Bible Teaching

We believe that God still speaks through his word in the Bible today, and that there is no greater source of truth, wisdom and life to be found. Ultimately, the Bible reveals everything necessary to know God and receive everlasting salvation in Jesus Christ. That’s why the Bible is central to all that we do at St Bart’s Norwood.
